The agreement between us
For the hosts and businesses who send with Sammelan.
Who this is for. These terms govern the relationship between Sammelan and the hosts, planners and businesses who use it. If you received a message from us and want to know what we hold about you, read the privacy policy instead.
These terms are between Sammelan, a sole proprietorship based in Bangalore, India, and you — the person or business engaging us to run an event or a campaign. Engaging us means accepting them.
We send invitations, schedules, reminders, updates and, where you have asked for it, promotional messages to people you nominate, over the WhatsApp Business Platform. We collect replies, track RSVPs, and give you a view of what was sent and what came back.
Sammelan is in pilot, and during this period we operate the service for you rather than giving you a login. You tell us the event, the schedule and the guest list; we set it up and run it. This is a deliberate choice and not a limitation you need to work around. Self-serve access will follow, and these terms will be updated when it does.
These are the obligations that matter most, because getting them wrong can cost us the WhatsApp number that every one of our customers depends on.
We will decline, without refund of work already done, anything that is misleading, unlawful, defamatory, or sent to people who have not agreed to receive it. We will also decline promotional content dressed up as a transactional notice, because it puts our WhatsApp account at risk.
Sammelan runs on infrastructure operated by Meta. This has consequences you should understand before engaging us:
We manage these risks actively — keeping event messaging on a separate number from promotional messaging, holding lower-priority sends in a queue rather than exceeding a limit, and monitoring account health. But we cannot guarantee delivery, and an interruption caused by Meta is not a breach of these terms by us.
If a Meta restriction prevents us from delivering a service you have paid for, we will refund the undelivered portion. That is the extent of our obligation in that situation, and we would rather say so plainly now than argue about it during your wedding.
Events are charged once per event, banded by guest count. Marketing is charged as a monthly plan with an included allowance and a per-message rate beyond it. The price quoted to you applies to the engagement it was quoted for.
During the pilot we invoice by hand. Invoices are payable within the period stated on them. Taxes are charged as Indian law requires.
Your guest list remains yours. We hold and process it on your behalf, we do not use it for our own marketing, and we do not share it with other customers or sell it to anyone. Ask us for an export at any time.
We keep opt-out records permanently and independently of your account. If a person tells us to stop, we will not message them again on your behalf even if they reappear on a later list you give us. This is not negotiable and it protects you as much as it protects them.
How we handle recipients’ data is set out in the privacy policy.
We will not disclose the details of your event, your guest list or your campaign to anyone outside Sammelan, except where the law requires it or where a provider needs it to deliver the service.
We take this work seriously, and a wedding happens once. But we are a small business, and our liability for any claim arising from an engagement is limited to the fees you paid for that engagement. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under Indian law.
Either of us may end the engagement in writing. We may suspend sending immediately, without notice, if we believe continuing would breach WhatsApp’s policies or Indian law, or would put our account at risk. We will tell you why, and we will refund anything undelivered.
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Bangalore, Karnataka have exclusive jurisdiction.
We will update these terms as the service grows — notably when self-serve access replaces the operated model described above. The date at the top reflects the current version, and we will tell active customers before a material change takes effect.
